Buffs for Reproductive Rights, member of Planned Parenthood Generation Action, at The University of Colorado at Boulder exists to educate the university community about reproductive health and rights, to translate increased awareness into pro-choice activism on campus, and to serve as a coalition partner to state, national, and international reproductive rights efforts. Buffs for RR, member of Planned Parenthood Generation Action, at The University of Colorado at Boulder believes in the fundamental right of every individual to manage their own fertility. Buffs for RR supports full access to comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings that preserve and protect the essential privacy and rights of each individual; advocates public policies that guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services; and supports access to medically accurate educational programs that enhance understanding of human sexuality.

The Committee for Equity in Mechanical Engineering (CEME) aims to build a sense of community among graduate students. This is accomplished through community building activities and communicating student perspectives on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion to the department. The Marxist Student Collective at CU is a group of CU Boulder Students dedicated to leftist education and activism on campus from a staunchly decolonial, anti-racist, and feminist perspective. We reflect on history and use it as a lens to understand contemporary issues in the US and the World. Our group meets and shows up to challenge oppressive institutions throughout society mild in manner, bold in content. We seek to make campus changes and also connect to the larger leftist community. We seek to improve ourselves and the campus. We seek to take every step we have the power to to make the world a better place. Direct action we take involves public education, fundraising, and other initiatives.

oSTEM @ the University of Colorado, Boulder is the student organization supporting LGBTQ+ students and allies in STEM Disciplines. All students are welcome to join from all genders, all sexualities, and all majors. We host a variety of meetings such as craft nights, educational presentations, and roundtable discussions. We also host annual events like our Evelyn Hooker Award Ceremony and our Out in STEM Symposium. Our events and meetings for the 2024-2025 year will be in the BOLD Center (ECCE 100).

The purpose of Psychedelic Club is to provide CU Boulder students and community members with insightful, unbiased awareness towards the use of psychedelic (and, to a lesser extent, other) substances in our society. Psychedelic club is meant to empower members with expertise on the subject of psychedelics through community, shared knowledge, and higher learning. Club goals are focused on innovative thinking, reducing stigma surrounding psychedelics by demonstrating how they can be used in fields such as science & spirituality, educating members on harm reduction, and providing tools to guide constructive inner exploration. Our meetings have ranged anywhere from discussions, tie-dying, painting, music seshes, and Psychedelic Jeopardy to visits from influential figures such as the director of the Zendo Project, Kevin Matthews and Matthew Duffy from Decriminalize Denver, psychedelic therapists, MAPS researchers, and much more.

STEM career paths are wrought with secret handshakes and unspoken rules which (rather than selecting for the most motivated, meritorious scientists) too often block first-generation students from research and innovation. Students whose parents or older siblings already navigated the uphill PhD battle are pre-equipped with a map of steps to making conscious, informed decisions about their future STEM career. While advisors and professors are passionate about supporting students, without key background information, first-generation students don't know what to ask.STEM Routes is a student organization, founded and run by traditionally under-represented and first-generation graduate students who faced the same systemic discrimination in our attempts to gain access to research and build our STEM careers. STEM Routes is our effort to serve as the mentors we wish we had.STEM Routes was formed in summer of 2018 by a group of graduate mentors for the SMART (Summer Multicultural Access to Research Training) Program. All of us shared a similar experience as we struggled to navigate our path to graduate school because we didn't know about the unspoken rules of preparing for and applying to graduate programs. In response to the need for better support for first-generation and underrepresented students, we formed STEM Routes to teach undergraduate students about research through educational workshops, community, and mentorship.

Student Organ Donation Advocates (SODA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that inspires and supports student-led organ, eye, and tissue donation education and registration efforts on high school, college, and graduate school campuses. As a SODA chapter we are focused on advocating for the organ donation community through education and donor registration efforts. We partner with Donate Life, AOPO, and many more organ/tissue donation organizations. We are one of over 75 chapters in the U.S., and have registered nearly 8,000 organ donors. Unfortunately, however, 8,000-10,000 people still die every year waiting for an organ and many face barriers to donating or receiving these life-saving procedures. Student Organ Donation Advocates at CU Boulder is a community of volunteers that advocate for organ donation, education, and donor registration. We hope to increase the number of registered donors in our communities and decrease the number of individuals that die every year waiting for life-saving organs. While 90% of US adults support organ donation, only ~50% are registered donors. As a SODA chapter, we hope to improve these numbers. SODA at CU gives members the opportunity to volunteer and serve their communities. Ambassadors can choose flexible volunteer hours that fit their schedules and even have the opportunity to volunteer from the comfort of their homes. This is a great opportunity for individuals seeking certified volunteer hours for medical school, PA school, and nursing school, among other post-graduate endeavors. Additionally, Ambassadors will have opportunities to assume leadership positions, earn certifications, lead informative presentations, and become a part of an amazing community of people!

SACSA is a student-led organization that aims to educate and spread awareness about sexual assault. We want to provide a community that fosters discussion and spreads awareness of sexual assault. Our events will include guest speakers, discussion panels, and self-care workshops. SACSA aims to examine sexual assault and sexual misconduct through an intersectional lens, as women of color and queer people face very different challenges. SACSA overall is founded on the power of proximity, as we believe it is easier for students to understand and educate one another. We, as a student group, seek to educate and empower fellow students and foster a community that will spread their knowledge and advocacy across campus.

Students Against Unjust Imprisonment aims to educate our community and draw attention to the injustices occurring within our criminal justice system that may have been ignored or overlooked. We believe that federal agencies are being used to attack the most vulnerable groups within our communities, that mass incarceration and dysfunction within the U.S. justice system is a trans issue, an immigration issue, a feminist issue, and impacts all marginalized groups in our society. By maintaining specific focuses and working to discover the Why? and the Now what?, we hope to evoke a desire for action, change, and awareness across the Boulder community. Often, the first impression of an unjust imprisonment is that it has been caused by a single event; however by looking into additional factors like poverty, over-policing, and militarization of police, we can grow our understanding to why this occurs and work together to start ground-up action that instead works to repair harm and address the root causes of crime. In consistently questioning and researching types of prison systems, re-offense rates, and other aspects of the criminal justice system, we will gain the ability to identify systemic issues and add to our knowledge on the entirety of the criminal justice system. This organization not only provides insight to the community, but it offers a way for students to dissect and interact with a crucial piece of our society.
